"The man who has planted a garden feels that he has done something for the good of the world." -- Vita Sackville-West

Was thinking....It is too bad that more of us (and our elected officials) are not gardeners. Gardeners are forward thinking, hard working, optimistic, and both awed and humbled by the environment.
If a gardener devoted his time to cutting flowers for the windowsill, harvesting fruits and vegetables and perusing the beauty from the porch w/ Gin & Tonic in hand without planning, replanting, watering, weeding and squishing caterpillers there would soon be no more garden to enjoy.
In all the political maneuvering over the economy, the blessings of this nation and the investment required to propel it forward are being lost in the hysteria.

Not that there isn't due cause for concern.

But I am hearing an awful lot about weeding and squishing caterpillers with little attention to planning, replanting and watering. I fear for our gardens.
